Gameweek 12

After an international break, epl hits the ground running again and we can expect a cracking games to follow with Arsenal playing Manchester United at The Emirates Stadium being the match of the week.

With Newcastle good run of form, I transfered in Ayoze for Naismith. A cheap striker in form will do me good to get Aguero perhaps in the coming week. With Newcastle playing against a bottom side QPR, I took a chance on him as my captain.

GAMEWEEK 11

IMG_5116.PNG Having Alexis Sanchez as my captain for two consecutive gameweeks earned me very valuable points but arsenal trip to the Liberty stadium is a trickier one and with swans in a good run of form, it would be a risk to choose sanchez as my captain for gameweek 11. So, I opted for the Southampton marksman Graziano Pelle to get my team’s captaincy. For the game of the week, that being Liverpool vs Chelsea; I can sense a very competitive match and I cannot see either team getting a clean sheet. Southampton conceding only 1 goal in their home matches this season is a strong reason for me to have Bertrand and Forster keeping their place for a clean sheet and Di Maria is a must as United entertain Neil Warnock’s Crystal Palace who lost 3-1 to a poor poor Sunderland side on Monday. QPR gave a good fight against a strong Chelsea side and I hope they replicate on their home turf against City. Newcatle and West Brom’s matches have always been a goals galore but with Newcastle defence looking good, i feel it will be somewhat different from what the history suggests.

Chelsea The New ‘Invincibles’?

Chelsea squad does look a whole lot stronger and confident this time around but their defense backup seems kind of only weak point that might be in their way of achieving the “invincible” tag this season. I do believe that Chelsea are the best defending sides in the whole of Europe and in Matic, they have one of the most suited CDM but if they get injured then they might struggle against big team’s attack especially united and city. They do have Kurt Zouma to back them up but Zouma’s inexperience might cost them the invincible tag.

The Not So Special One

Can we go the whole season unbeaten in the league? Yes, No, Maybe? I don’t know.

Recently, most people have been talking about that we have the best team in the league and that its very unlikely that we could lose many games this season, some even say that we could go unbeaten in the league.

If you asked me in the beginning of the season if I think we could go the whole season unbeaten, I probably would of said yes. Last season we didn’t lose to any of the top four teams, we beat City and Liverpool home and away, we didn’t lose to Arsenal or United as well. Are only loses came to the teams nearer the bottom of the table (except for Everton and Stoke). With the additions of Costa, Fabregas and Remy it’s hard to see us lose to the lower teams. With Mourinho’s exceptional…

After having a fair look at every sides, who would you choose to be your starting 11 if you were a manager of an ” average side”? Remember, you have got only limited budget as you hold the managerial position of an average epl team. Have your say? This would be the team I would go with?

GAMEWEEK 8

And we’re back! With the international break finally over, it’s time to re-focus on epl.

MY TEAM

GOALKEEPER

With Southampton’s fixture list remaining extremely tempting to fantasy managers for the next five game-weeks, I am once more tipping Fraser Forster. The Saints are one of seven clubs to have kept three clean sheets after the opening seven game-weeks and have conceded just five time in their other four games, giving them the league’s best defence. Given their next five fixtures and the fact that they currently have the tightest defence in the league there is my clean sheet points in Forster who has been the best player of Saints rear-guard and I would strongly suggest you include Forster (£5.1m) as part of this fantasy week.

DEFENDERS

The most talked about player in fantasy football circles throughout the international break has most certainly been Everton’s Leighton Baines. There can be no denying the fact that Baines will bring an attacking threat to my team. Before you all go and hit the transfer button I should point out that Everton currently have the worst defence in the league, keeping just one clean sheet to date and this is a slight concern as in the past two seasons Baines would have picked up quite a significant proportion of his points via clean sheets. In fairness to both Everton & Baines they have had a difficult start to the season, but their fixtures are set for a dramatic improvement meaning clean sheets are surely just around the corner. Should you choose to bring Baines into your side you really do need to be prepared to have him for the long term to ensure you pick up maximum returns. So, in simple words, have faith in Baines.

I do not tip tottenham to win against the champions but I do hope Dier will keep a clean sheet if not score.

Cissokho- well i had no other option.

MIDFIELDERS

With a significant proportion of fantasy teams now featuring Sterling, Fabregas, Sigurdsson & Di Maria, fantasy managers are coming to the realisation that if they are to move up the rankings they need to do something different! Obviously the aforementioned players are popular because they are scoring points so you need to be confident that your alternative can do likewise. So, my plan was to neglect all chelsea players and hope for them to slip in their next few fixtures and to choose an alternative who can outscore Fabregas and I feel that Alexis Sanchez fits the bill nicely. With, most of the Arsenal players injured and their main strikers out, I feel Alexis Sanchez will get a nod ahead of other Arsenal players to lead their striking force and i can see goals in him against Steve Bruce’s Hull City.

STRIKERS

As I said earlier, I hope for Diego Costa to have a quiet weekend and Pelle to have a blast. Pelle has proved to be a great signing for the Saints and has four goals & an assist in his last five games, while he also scored on his international debut this week, so his confidence is bound to be sky high. This confidence combined with Southampton’s next five fixtures make Pelle quite an enticing proposition at £7.9m. My final tip this week is Everton’s Steven Naismith, who after an electric start to the season went missing only to pop back up with a goal against United last time out to bring his tally to the season to four. Everton have had a terrible start to the season but with their fixtures now becoming quite favourable I suspect we will see their fortunes take a turn for the better and this can only benefit Naismith. Also, with Newcastle having a terrible run at the start of the season and Ulloa having a dream start, I have a hope on Ulloa netting few points for my team.

CAPTAIN

Without any doubt, with Manchester United scoring consistently and Di Maria being in the heart of every move, I have no doubt that Di Maria will score some valuable points for my team so gets my captain’s armband this game week.

Some mouthwatering clashes with chelsea going to Emirates and Manchester United entertaining Everton at Old Trafford.

My Team

With Rooney’s suspension, I was
forced to transfer Rooney out this game week and came in Ulloa who i entrusted with the captaincy. Leicester play against Burnley this saturday in front of their home crown who saw their home team win against mighty red devils 5-3 after being 3-1 down while Burnley were comprehensively beaten by West Brom who themselves were struggling to hit form. This makes this fixture somewhat easy to decide and I am expecting a comfortable Leicester win with their in form marksman, the big Argentine scoring goals.

IMG_5018-2.JPG

With Spurs facing off against in formSouthampton, I had to trust Chadli and Pelle for goals but due to too many injuries and suspension, I was forced to put Eric Dier although i doubt Spurs are going to keep a clean sheet with Graziano Pelle in such outstanding goalscoring form. Di Maria is very likely to score or have somewhat a good impact against a tired Everton side who played for europa league in Russia yesterday and Roberto Martinez may only make 1 or 2 changes to the team that started in the europa league and fatigue might get better of them. But with United defence fragility, Everton are likely to score and I have Naismith in my team for that as he played the CF role
at anfield in their 1-1 draw.

West Brom were dominating against Burnley and are heading to Anfield to play against a Liverpool side who had a difficult game in the Uefa champions league this week. So, i don’t expect a comprehensive win for Liverpool but I do think Liverpool’s gonna win it and I. Have Sterling in my team to provide me that goal. I would have considered Super Mario instead of Ujjoa but the Italian is out of his goal scoring zone and might not have a big impact this time around.

With Swansea playing in home against a threatened Magpies, I hope Sigurdsson will provide me with points, if not with a goal then probably with an assist.

I did not dare to choose any players from the big London match between Arsenal and Chelsea. The tie is too close to call and its going to be more fascinating to watch without any fantasy ties.

Analysis on summer transfers

With Chelsea already looking the favourites to win the league and their new signing Diego Costa looking like the best buy of this summer, we look at few other signings who might have a big impact this season.

IMG_4852-0.JPG Angel Di Maria– The argentine was the centre of every win recorded by real madrid last season and his drive that led to Bale’s goal id an example to this. With british record fee splashed by Manchester united for his services, there are doubters especially because of his physique and strength which is required in the tough english league but with mesmerizing performance in his first few games in united colors it seems that he is worth every penny. If Manchester United are to get back to the champions league next season, he needs to be consistent with his performance.

IMG_5011.JPG Graziano Pelle– A 6’4 tall striker leading the Southampton striking force, we expect him to score headers but he has more to his game than just this. His goal against QPR was worth watching again and again. With an astounding goal scoring record for feyenoord, he has kept this form and is a regular scorer for his new side. With Southampton sitting pretty just behind chelsea in points tally and looking bang in form under their new manager Ronald Koeman, we expect Southampton to compete for an european spot and for that Pelle needs to show his Feyenoord form in Southhampton too.

IMG_5012-0.JPG Cesc Fabregas– The special one has a special one finally. A genius midfielder whose assisting ability has proven to be a master stroke from Mourinho
when linked to Diego Costa. His Barcelona career can be considered not so successful by his standards but his transfer to Chelsea might be right on time to revert his career back to the highest level and with his acquisition, Chelsea are no doubt the favorites to win the league this season.

IMG_5014.JPG Eliaquim Mangala– The reigning champions were “said to be” only lacking in defensive qualities but Martin Demichelles performances in the latter half of the season proved Pellegrini’s faith in his CB right. Moreover, Demichelles also was a key member of the Argentina squad which reached the world cup final in Brazil but still Pellegrini splashed a hefty sum for the services of French international CB of Porto Eliaquim Mangala. He had a good debut against Arsenal but his poor performance against Hull might be enough to get him axed from the next fixture. He is a strong CB who is good in air but sometimes shows that lack of skill and composure making rash tackles so he needs to improve if he wants his place in the side days in and days out else Demichelles whom Pellegrini trust so much will soon be pairing Kompany in City’s defence.

IMG_5013.JPG Alexis Sanchez– A bright and scintillating perfomances in Brazil lured Arsene Wenger to pay a huge amount of money to get the services of Alexis Sanchez. His dribbling skills, pace, flair has lit up epl but its his decisions in final one third thats been disappointing. Apart from his fantastic volley against Manchester city, his contribution has not been impressive enough and saw him dropped to the bench in the London derby against Spurs. It needs a string of good performances in Arsenal colors for Alexis Sanchez to cement his place in Wenger’s team.

IMG_5015.JPG Romelu Lukaku– A big sum paid by a club like Everton proves their intention and warns other teams that its time to take them seriously. Under Roberto Martinez, they played brilliant football last season especially strong because of their wingbacks Baines and Coleman who continuously overlap their wingers and display a convectional attacking play. This proved more threatful with Lukaku in their side last season; an attacking centre forward with great strength and aerial ability. This was the reason they paid the money for his services this season but with the likes of Distin now losing pace with age and stones lacking experience, they might be dented by their summer deals which should have had a CB. Perhaps they will in the January Window.
